Rob Herne, MBCC Ballarder Dear Sir,

Further to our recent discussions regarding possible formats for Manly breakers Cricket Club match reports (B3 grade), I would like to submit the following to you as captain to review and (hopefully) recommend for publication on the Club's website. It is a summary of events last Saturday in the Round eleven game played at Lionel Watts. Though slightly hampered by lack of access to the scorebook, I hope the veracity of the facts quoted within prove correct in all cases (if you didn't in fact make 42 for instance, you've really stuffed up my second stanza). The style is that known as "limerick" and reads as follows:

Round eleven was at Lionel Watts,
We batted and played some nice shots.
One fifty-seven was made
By our B3 grade
Not bad but you couldn't say "lots".

Our captain made forty-two.
Though their bowling was rarely askew.
Fopper slapped twenty-eight,
Al Lemarchand was late,
Then tea and a trip to the loo.

Belrose took to their task with a will,
Their batsmen eager to thrill.
With a hundred runs scored
And overs left on the board,
They appeared to be in for the kill.

But a funny old game is cricket,
You'd need Nostradamus to pick it.
Twelve short Belrose fell
And the final death knell
Was when Dougie took the ninth wicket.

So the Breakers fame builds ever higher.
We hail from the north to the Shire.
But no other side
Has the brains or the hide
To be nearly as "Tight Like Fire!"
