  • Sydney Morning Cricket Association preview (April 2003)
    MBCC A Terry Nicholson
Terry Nicholson (Winter 2003 MBCC A captain) This is what surfers must do when it is too cold to hang ten at Manly Beach. Funnily enough hardly any of them come from Manly, with most hailing from the outer south western suburbs. So why "Manly"? It's a long story and it involves 4 bottles of cheap bourbon, a 3 wheeler tricycle, a hair net and Terry Nicholson's blow up doll. He's bound to tell everyone when he's square leg umpire so opposition players should avoid that spot like the plague. But they are good bunch of cricketers who will take advantage of the gap at square leg to get their runs.
Player to watch - Nathan Walker.
    Prediction - Top 2
    MBCC B Matt Fisher
Matt Fisher (Winter 2003 MBCC B captain) Unlike the Manly A's, the B's are all local lads who have found a way to fill in a Saturday that doesn't involve watching the Northern Eagles getting flogged. They've decided to show that the Northern peninsula is not full of dead-beat footballers and are out to show the others that some good does exist in the northern parts. Chris Sweet is one of the most experienced players around, playing and winning in the inaugural Winter GF for TAFE in 1997. He knows how to win and is a fine all rounder. Matt Fisher and James JJ Johnstone will be the backbone of the batting while Anthony Brown and Allan Le Marchand spearhead a potent attack.
    Player to Watch: Corinne Vercoe
    Prediction: Middle Four
