Match Report
Knowing they had to win the next 2 games, Manly Breakers A won the toss and elected to bat. This team has many great batsmen, but for some reason they just can't seem to fire on the same day. Good line and length bowling kept their total down to a mere 108, with the only notable performance being that of Paul Reece (43). Muggletonians best bowler was R. Brennan (1-10).
When Manly Breakers A took the field, they knew they had a big ask ahead of them, but were quietly confident of winning the match. However, once Muggletonians began cheating by changing the rules to suit themselves, the result was never going to be in doubt. They reached the total in the 16th over without a wicket recorded in the scorebook. T. Campbell was caught by Terry Nicholson off John Edgtton, when he was on 6, only to have the unofficial square leg umpire signal a no ball after the catch was completed because the ball was slightly above knee roll height. He actually waited for the catch to be completed and the batsman to begin walking from the field before the call came. Their behaviour was so unsportsmanlike, those of them who were still there at the completion of their innings, left the ground immediately without shaking hands, or even conversing to obtain player of the season points. Frankly, their whole attitude was appalling. It was as though they knew they had cheated and were too guilt ridden to look any of us in the eye afterwards. I honestly hope no other team has to play against them in the future as this was just not cricket. Top scorers: D. Parsons (1-41no), A. Kipper (37no), T. Campbell (2-20no).
