Dummoyne RSL Muggeltonians 192 beat Manly Breakers 123
Manly Breakers' undefeated season came to an end with a surprise loss to DRSL who potientially had more to lose if they lost.
Batting first. DRSL realised a win would guarantee at least 3rdspot, while a loss may see them displaced from the 4 altogether. Batting with purpose, R.Brennan (50) and S.Cavallaro (56) set up a handy score of 192 on the small MP 23 field. M.Badden (21), A.Kelly (20) and D.Smith (21) all showed batting skills in the bottom half of the order to maintain the momentum. Phil Sweet's 4-17 off 5 managed to stem the tide and restrict DRSL to merely a good total (when it looked as though it may have been fantastic at one stage).
But runs on the board are worth double, and Manly fell to constant DRSL pressure. Terry Nicholson's 27 was top score, and handy 20's from Matt Fisher and Phil Sweet gave some hope to Manly, but there was no-one to stick around and make a big score. Manly collapsed for 123 in the 33rd over. Wickets were shared between R.Brennan (2-22), M.Wastell (2-20) and S.Church (2-17). A.Kelly got a wicket with his only ball of the innings and demands to be able to complete his hat-trick next game.
DRSL slip into 3rdspot with this win and face Tinnuks in the semi. Manly retain top spot and face Surry Hills.
