B4 Round 3 v Forest District (Kilarney)
Result: First innings loss
Players Player: ??

Played at Kilarney, on a small ground with lightening fast fields, MBCC's (bad) luck with the ball continued and we eventually went down to Forest, on the back of a century to McNenna.
Jeff Monin, in particular, had no luck with the ball in the morning session, with nuerous catches going just short or just just over fielders. All MBCC's attack bowled well, it was just one of those days. Led by McNenna, Forest were around 170-odd at tea and were already commenting that MBCC were not the side we were the previous season.
How wrong they were! Mcnenna completed his ton, but MBCC, led by Pat Ryan and Jeff Monin hit back. Captain Mark Hill fired out the lower order for his second 'Michelle' (Pfieffer or Five-for) on the season.
Forests' pre stumps declaration left MBCC with a few overs to face, but Rob Lavery and surprise opener David Lang(er) were up to the task, setting us up for a run chase the next week with all wickets intact (well done lads!)
Come day two and for a nice change, the conditons were still good for batting! The top order got starts, but we kept losing wickets - often in strange ways. After a fine opening, from Langy and Rob, Pat (24) and Rob (27) pushed on the scoring.
With Matt Fisher and Doug Alley together the win was still on. Matt's unluvky demise exposed the normally reliable middle and lower order. Sadly, this wasnt our day. The remaining bright spot was Doug, who was emphatically back in form, batting on for an unbeaten (and well deserved) 43. He deserved his first 50, but we just couldnt hang on.
A good, unrewarded effort with the ball for the Breakers. At least we got back to "Support the Sponsor" early-ish...!
