Marrickville RSL B 1-145 bt Manly Breakers 134
With 3 pullouts on Thursday, Marrickville RSL B was struggling a bit for players but eventually found enough players to field a full team. Manly won the toss on a beautiful day and elected to bat, with 2 players short (Phil O'Neill & Wayne Trigell) Manly may have gone for more runs in the first 8 overs, but they scored very slowly and manly didn't take advantage of it.
The standout for manly was the dangerous left handed Phil Sweet (52) backed up by A. Ball (19) & Chris Sweet (17) to rack up a good total 134 to chase, pick of the bowlers were Hamit Dinclik 6o 0/8, Phil O'Neill 4o 1/9 and Dave Courtney 5o 3/25 with good support from Trent 4o 1/14 & Dean Vandine 4o 1/18 the only bad note was the serious injury to Hamit pulling some ligaments in his right shoulder and was taking to hospital for x-rays.
With the chase (and this author can't really say much about it 'cause he was at the hospital with Hamit) but big Wayne Trigell opened with Trent Newton and swung at everything (incl the flies) and played with some luck to score a quick 42 with Trent (43) more content to look good in front of the netballers as they walked across the field and Phi O'Neill (37) the only wkt to fall & Paul 18 n/o to have a good first up win. The only comment about the bowling was that it was put in the right spot to play the right shots.
