Dreams do come true….!
What
started out as “what if….”, “wouldn’t it be great if…..” and “do you think we
can…..’” has finally become a reality as I put pen to paper, actually “fingers
to keyboard” in what has been the culmination of dedication & hard work by
a group of cricketers sharing a common interest in pursuing our goal of
establishing a cricket club, the Manly Breakers Cricket Club Incorporated.
Although
our club is new, our players have played in the Manly-Warringah District for a
number of years now. Our primary objective will be to develop junior &
senior cricketers and contribute to the competitiveness & standard of
cricket throughout the northern beaches. We further hope to produce players who
may well continue their cricket to higher levels similar to Steve & Mark Waugh, Michael Bevan and
Shawn Bradstreet who also started their cricket at “grassroots level”, local
cricket clubs.
Manly
Breakers Cricket Club is honoured to have NSW representative and 1st
grade player, Shawn Bradstreet as our inaugural club patron. Shawn developed at
local junior cricket levels as a promising young bowler and attended the
Australian Cricket Academy where he further improved his bowling skills whilst
working hard to develop himself as a batsman. Shawn has over the last number of
seasons cemented his position in the Manly District 1st grade squad
and proven himself as an acknowledged all-rounder for Manly and at state level
for NSW.
We
extend our appreciation & acknowledge his support to our club.
May I
take this opportunity to welcome all members, players & supporters (and
visitors) to Manly Breakers Cricket Club and look forward to seeing you all
both on & off the field.
Yours in
cricket ………..
