[2002/03] Has there ever been a cricketer of more contrasts than "Zills"? MBCC's left hand opening batsman anchored the innings in our first season, right (left?) out of the Geoff Boycott handbook. Big Al still uses the "Zillani" analogy when scoring may be a tad slow, but you can't argue with the results. Plenty of opening bowlers were throughly sick of Zills by the end of the year. But Boycs never bowled as fast as Tony does, or as economically. MWRLCC are still reeling at a typical Zillani spell of 8-8-0-3 in the first return game. An excellent team man, and a fine self-made cricketer, Tony also organised much appreciate musical jam sessions after practices. Sadly, business interests have kept him away from cricket the last two seasons. MBCC await his return, even if our opponents may not. (Mr Bond, March 2003)
