(Hilly, May 2001) [2001/02] The Mark Waugh of the Brothers in Arms, Phil has plenty of batting finesse, solid hands in the field, and knows how to pick up a wicket or two. Phil has natural leadership that has been an asset to the club over the last two seasons, and hopefully for a few more years yet. Phil, like Chris, can damage any opponent with bat and ball, and never settles for second best. (Fish, May 2002) Phil Sweet, I have said it on many occasions and in every Captain’s report where we’ve played together, but I say it again and impress on you its sincerity and weight. (Hilly, May 2004) Phil’s return to the Manly Breakers team was as good as they come, this guy is cricket through and through, not only is he good at it, he makes it fun.
