Jimmy's far too modest (and inaccurate) assessment: Cricket Background- On many occasions I have tried to both bat and bowl and failed at almost every attempt.

[2003/04] The “pelican” probably didn’t have his best season, but he managed to turn up for matches week in week out – if he didn’t it was usually due to car trouble. Took his first wickets for the club, and managed to score a few runs when he got past the duck. Jim was the regular keeper and at times looked very good behind the stumps, but at other times he looked like a fine leg fielder trapped in keepers gear. Another contender for most improved. (Fish, May 2004)

[2004/05] You would think there is nothing that I could write about James “…” Johnston that hasn’t already gone into a match report. Well that’s very narrow minded of you and I demand you take it back. Actually, James must be complimented for what can only be described as a stellar season with the bat. It truly was the year of the Pelican for the team from the seaside suburb as “Rimmy” smote attack after attack with devastating strokeplay. Don’t tell anyone, but he also took two wickets in the semi final as well. (Fish, May 2005)
